CONSERVATION CASITAS
CASITAS POR CONSERVACIÓN LOS PEDRANOS

Ambergris Caye, Belize, Central America | North of San Pedro at Secret Beach

It's the little house on a beach.
You've found a place to stay among the mangroves, a short walk to the beach, close enough to bars and restaurants, but far enough to have star-covered darkness and beautiful silence at night.
Conservation Casitas is a filled with iguanas and hummingbirds, sunsets and stars, fruit trees and gardens.
With the gardens, outdoor family & community spaces, educational & recreational offerings, optional meal preparation for you or a full kitchen in your house to use on your own, you decide what your experience includes.
We will share our trusted personal connections to Belizean-owned, family-operated businesses. Conservation Casitas aims to maintain and amplify the Belizean people, protect the landscape, and advocate for preserving the delicate social and cultural ecosystem while also welcoming guests to appreciate and marvel at its wonder.

Call our place your home.
Uur eco-friendly creative casitas are nestled in the heart of the island. Surrounded by a lush undeveloped mangrove and littoral (swamp) forest and wildlife, native trees and flowers, and featuring a cozy fire pit, it's the perfect space for:
Families | Small Group | Romance | Backpacker | Relaxer | Griever
Embrace sustainable practices while enjoying modern comforts and natural surroundings on gated private property. We carefully preserve the mangrove habitat, enhance it with fruit trees, pollinator and iguana-friendly gardens, and encourage cultural and ecological conservation efforts that honor San Pedranos (locals of the old fishing village), Mayan and Belizean history.
The littoral forests are important to life on Earth.
We have three independent casitas that can be reserved individually, as a pair, or all three at once. The casitas have private entrances, but if you are renting more than one, a playful rope bridge will take you from porch to porch, treehouse style!
Right now, the casitas are set in a remote section of the mangroves with no neighbors. It's fenced and perfect for families with young children and those who want a quiet place away from the town and bars. You'll be a 15-minute meandering walk from the west shore (Secret Beach) or just a 4-5 minute golf cart ride. Beach restaurants and bars are 1-2 minutes from the property.
We have pools (yes, two!) onsite for plunging when your in the mood for a freshwater dip in the sun. Our property even has a freshwater natural spring well.
Everything about our homes is energy independent. It's solar-powered and backed up with a generator, has independent water cisterns, and three stage (top of the line) septic systems. If the island loses power or rolls blackouts, you won't.
OUR SERVICES
Dinner Preparation
We have a local treat for you! Her name is Nevia, and she grew up on the island and lives close by with her family. Find out what she can cook for you, so you can enjoy your evening outside the kitchen!
Garden
As part of our mission, we grow fruit trees and an edible landscape. Some of our edibles are for humans and some are for the wildlife in the littoral ecosystem. Our garden is growing in stages, so each year you return, it will look different. Here's where you can find our updates.
Pool
We have two pools. You can use either one! We built them in different areas of the property, so you have the choice of socializing with other guests or relaxing privately. It's ideal for keeping kid play time and adult sip and swim separated!
Free Wifi
You can go almost anywhere in the world and get a cellular data connection, including our property. We also provide wifi for our guests to use. You can work, communicate, and shop -- we recommend turning off your devices and sitting in the sunshine!
Housekeeping
Our casitas stay tidy! Housekeeping will visit to bring you fresh bath and beach towels regularly, depending on the length of your stay. Your bed will be tidied, and our staff can even wash your laundry for you.
Activity Coordination
We've got the hookup. You can use your own contacts for excursions and boat trips, but we know who to call when you need help. We work with only Belizean locals who know the cayes, support their families with their tourism businesses, and practice generously and ethically.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Mainland Excursion
Mayan temples, cave tours on floating rafts, zip lining through the jungle. The mainland is a completely different experience than the islands, and it's worth the journey! You'll be tired -- in a good way!
Cultural Sites
The Mayans are one of the worlds most ancient and sophisticated peoples, and Belizeans keep their Mayan culture alive daily. These sites are great opportunities to take in the history, culture, food, and language of the Mayan civilization.
San Pedro Town
Shopping in town for souvenirs, eating in the oldest restaurants, grabbing a soda, beer and taco on the street... it's all part of the Ambergris experience to visit San Pedro for some essentials. We'll tell you our family's favorite stops.
Boat Outings
Scuba, snorkel with nurse sharks and friendly stingrays, visit the coral reefs and see their beauty, fish off a boat, deep sea fish, watch a boat captain spear fish, swim in the ocean off a boat or catamaran, feed tarpons with your hands, swim with wild manatees... the possibilities are endless when you are exploring the blue part of the Blue Planet.
Secret Beach
Ready for fun and amazing sunsets? Secret Beach is on the west side of the island, where the water is crystal clear, turquoise and still like a sheet of glass. Secret Beach used to be a secret -- not so now! But it's still a remote part of the island that is less developed and beautifully natural. You'll find beach bars, amazing food, local vendors, a small waterpark for kids, wave runner rentals, picnic tables and swings in the water, kayaks for community use, and special brownies.
Animal Adventures
Belizean people and government are some of the most protective of the natural world. The care and keeping of their animal neighbors is a large part of the reason our family chose Belize as an adoptive home. You'll find "potlickers" all over the island (community doggies). There are incredible wildlife sanctuaries, a zoo, and sea life opportunities everywhere.
